HISTORY
New Horizons Adult Day Services, Inc. is a private non-profit 501 (c) (3) founded in 2008. We are a day program for adults in the community with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This program was operated by the Yadkin County Board of Education (Yadkin ADAP/Yadkin ADVP) for approximately 30 years before we assumed responsibility for the program.
Adults can come to this program to receive many different services. Services funded in part by monies from Partners Behavioral Health Management and Cardinal Innovations. The people we serve participate in group activities that aid them in striving for independence. Community integration is a key component.
Our thrift store is located in the same facility as the day program and accepts donations of various items that we clean, refurbish, and resale. All proceeds from sales go to fund our activities.
Our motive for becoming involved with this program lies in our close connection with the disabled adults in this community. We are a small community where everyone knows everyone. Our folks are more than just participants in a program; they are our friends, family, and neighbors. In 2008, when Yadkin County Schools
decided to discontinue their involvement in the ADVP, we felt that we could help the Program continue by being involved and keeping the Program in Yadkin County. We are proud to serve the citizens of our community.
